The top tourist destinations in Italy Amalfi, Siena e Firenze.
A survey by TripAdvisor, a web travel community counting over 5 million registered members and 25 million travelers every month provided a complete list of the world's top tourist destinations.
Amalfi, Siena and Florence are regarded as the most popular tourist destinations in Italy, although other five Italian cities also achieved a top ranking, namely: Pompei, Venice, Assisi, Positano, and Rome.
The rankings resulted from the first edition of Travellers’ Choice Destinations Awards 2008, that is a list of the world's best destinations as chosen by millions of travelers.
Milford Sound, a fjord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, that Rudyard Kipling had previously called it the eighth Wonder of the World, is on top of the list. It is followed by Queenstown, also located in New Zealand, and built around an inlet on Lake Wakatipu. This is also a renowned centre for bungy jumping.
Philipsburg, in the Netherlands Antilles, is ranked third, followed by the beautiful Cuba and Rodi. In the top ten also are Charlotte Amalie and Cruz Bay, in the Virgin Islands, Bridgetown in the nation of Barbados, and Banff, a small Canadian town placed in the midst of a stunning natural reserve. The tenth position went to Lake Tahoe, on the border between California and Nevada, and also known as the "the lake of the sky",
